GOVERNING BOARD OF REDDAM HOUSE BERKSHIRE

Reddam House Berkshire opened in September 2015 as a through-school, divided into three sections – the Early Learning School, Junior School and Senior School. The key duty of the Governing Board is to ensure that each school, and the through-school as a whole, has a clear vision, strategy and direction. In doing so, the Governors are responsible for creating an ethos of high expectation and for monitoring, evaluating and supporting the leadership and management of each school, together with the relevant policies and procedures.

Dr. Stephen Spurr is the Chairman of the Governing Board, In addition to his responsibilities as Chairman, he is the Governor with responsibility for Safeguarding, Health and Safety, Boarding, Teaching and Learning and Professional Development of staff. He joined Reddam House as Managing Director (Europe) in September 2014.

Dr. Spurr started his career in academia as a university lecturer, having gained a first-class degree in Classics at the University of Sydney, the award of a postgraduate Fellowship at Harvard and a Rome Scholarship, and the degree of Doctor of Philosophy from Oxford University.

In 1984 he was appointed to teach at Eton College, becoming successively Head of Classics and House Master until 2000. After five years as Headmaster of Clifton College (2000-2005), where he was the overall head of the Senior School, Prep and Pre-Prep, he was selected to be the Head Master of Westminster School, the leading British public school, making it into the foremost academic school in the UK, his tenure lasting from 2005 to 2014. In his final year at Westminster, he was responsible for founding the Harris-Westminster Academy together with the Harris Federation. Dr Spurr is also a Governor of the Royal Ballet School.

 

GRAEME CRAWFORD

President of Reddam House

 

Graeme Crawford, who has governance responsibility for project management, the curriculum, and staff liaison, is a renowned educator who began his career as a science teacher in South Africa and believed that much more could be done to improve educational standards.

Driven by his own negative schooling experiences, he began conceiving a school that could provide a rounded education through a dynamic new approach. This was aimed at maximising not just the academic standard but also the confidence, potential and individuality of each child. He opened his first school in 1993. In the following five years the Crawford Schools grew to 21 in total.

In 2000, Graeme Crawford founded Reddam House in Australia. His impressive track record spans more than two decades and two continents, and since 1993 his schools have educated more than 32,000 students. He has recently moved to the UK, from where he is developing the Reddam House platform internationally with Nadim M. Nsouli, and his four children attend Reddam House Berkshire.

 

NADIM M. NSOULI

Chairman of Reddam House and Founder of Educas

 

Nadim Nsouli holds the governance responsibility for investment and financial control.

 

Prior to founding Educas in July 2013, he was a partner at Providence Equity Partners, a private equity firm with $23 billion under management. He was also a member of Providence's Global Investment Committee and led Providence's Education investment strategy in Europe and the Middle East.

Prior to joining Providence in 2006, Nadim Nsouli was the European Head of the Gores Group, a special situations private equity fund based in Los Angeles. Before this, he had founded and managed Lago Ventures, a venture capital firm and had previously been a member of the media and telecommunications investment banking teams of Morgan Stanley and J.P. Morgan in London.

Nadim Nsouli started his professional career in New York as a corporate lawyer at Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue. He received a Master of Business Administration from INSEAD with distinction, a Juris Doctor from New York University School of Law and a Bachelor of Science (magna cum laude) from Georgetown University.

JENNY AVISS

Chief Operating Officer – Europe

Having started her career as the Director of Music at Eaton House School Belgravia, Jenny quickly moved onto the roles of Senior Mistress, Deputy Head and then the Head by the age of 30. Her second Headship came in 1998 at Wetherby School, Notting Hill and over the next 10 years Jenny positioned Wetherby as the top Pre Prep Boys School in London.

Jenny in 2009, accepted an Executive role with Alpha Plus Group and was then subsequently appointed Director of Schools for Alpha Plus Group with all Alpha's sixth form colleges added to her portfolio by the year 2015. 


DAVID BRICKELL

 

David Brickell holds the governance responsibility for property and IT. 


He is a Partner at Oakley Capital where he sits on the boards of Educas, an international group of premium private schools and Oakley’s marine manufacturing investments (North Sails, Southern Spars and Edgewater).

He holds an MBA with Distinction from INSEAD Business School in France/Singapore, and a MA (Oxon.) in Law from Oxford University.  He has over 15 years of principal investing, M&A and operational experience, having co-founded a SaaS internet startup (Stockopedia.com) and been an Investment Director of Candover, a pan-European private equity fund.

GRAHAM ABLE

Senior Advisor and Non-Executive Director

 

 

Graham Able holds responsibility for governance, risk management and the curriculum.

After graduating from Cambridge in Natural Sciences, Graham Able began his career as a teacher at Sutton Valence School.

In 1983 he took up the position of Second Master at Barnard Castle School and in 1988 left to become the Headmaster of Hampton School. In 1997 he was appointed Master of Dulwich College. Having co-chaired the HMC and GSA Education and Academic Policy Committee for three years, he was elected Chairman of HMC in 2003.

He served on the Edexcel Council and the governing bodies of Imperial College and Roedean and, on his retirement from Dulwich in 2009, took up the position of Chief Executive of the Alpha Plus Group, an education company that owns a number of schools and colleges in the UK. He is currently Deputy Chairman of the Group.
